Posts vs Pages: the difference that confuses everyone

Posts vs Pages: the difference that confuses everyone

WordPress gives you two ways to add content, and beginners mix them up constantly.

Pages are for timeless, standalone content: About, Contact, Privacy Policy. They don't have a date and usually sit in your menu.

Posts are for dated entries that pile up over time: news, articles, recipes, updates. They show on your blog, get categories, and appear newest-first.

A simple test: "Would I ever say the date this was written matters?" If yes, it's a post. If it's evergreen and structural, it's a page.

Think of pages as the rooms in your house and posts as the diary you add to each day.

Getting it wrong isn't fatal, you can convert between them with a free plugin later.

In plain words: pages are timeless and fixed; posts are dated and stack up like a blog.
