— Created one genuinely linkable asset: original data from testing 12 products, with a chart
— Found 30 articles already linking to weaker stats than mine — those authors WANT better data
— Sent 30 personal emails, no template feel, pointing to my specific better stat
— Listed the site in 5 real niche directories and 2 industry roundups
— Answered 4 relevant questions on Reddit/forums with a contextual link where it genuinely helped
Got 14 links from outreach, 7 from directories over 6 weeks. DR went 4 to 16. Rankings followed.
Lesson banked: nobody links to a review. They link to data. Build the asset first, then the outreach writes itself.
