The 7 questions I ask an affiliate manager before I run their offer
The vetting call is the cheapest risk reduction in arbitrage. Here's my exact script.
The setup
New offer in the network, great payout on paper. Before budget, I get the manager on a call.
The move
Seven questions:
— What's the current scrub/rejection rate, and over what window?
— What's the daily cap, and is it close to full?
— Which traffic sources are top performers right now? (Tells me what's working.)
— What's the average EPC other affiliates are seeing?
— Are there hidden restrictions: incent, brand bidding, specific geos inside the geo?
— What's the payment term and minimum payout?
— If I send quality volume, can we discuss a payout bump?
The numbers
On one call the manager admitted the cap was 90% full by noon daily. I'd have scaled into a wall and torched ~$200 on capped-out traffic. Skipped it.
The lesson
Managers know which campaigns are dying and which are exploding. They'll tell you if you ask the right way.
What I'd do differently
Record answers per offer so I can hold them to the scrub number later. Illustrative figures.
