Choosing client-side or server-side (a quick decision tree)

Choosing client-side or server-side (a quick decision tree)

Client-side means the auction runs in the visitor's browser. Server-side means it runs on a remote computer instead.

Walk the tree:
— 1. Do you have under 6 partners? Stay client-side — it's simpler.
— 2. Is your page getting slow with each new partner? Lean server-side.
— 3. Do you need precise control and easy debugging? Client-side wins.
— 4. Are you adding 10+ partners? Server-side keeps the browser light.
— 5. Unsure? Start client-side, move heavy partners to server later.

Most sites run a mix: a few in the browser, the rest on a server.

In plain English: few partners stay in the browser; once it gets crowded, push the extras to a server.
