Open-source Prebid vs a closed all-in-one platform
You can run open-source Prebid, which anyone can read and change, or a closed platform that bundles wrapper, server, and reports together.
— Open-source: free, portable, and you can switch partners or hosts anytime. But you assemble the pieces yourself.
— Closed platform: everything works together out of the box, but your setup lives inside their walls, so leaving means rebuilding from scratch.
Tiny example: two years in, an open setup lets you swap your server vendor in a day. A closed one may force a months-long migration.
1. Ask: how hard is it to leave?
2. Prefer setups you can walk away from.
In plain English: open tools are more work now but keep you free to switch later.
