SaaS tools vs membership sites: two recurring flavors
New to recurring? Both pay you monthly, but they behave very differently.
— SaaS (software people use for work): low churn, because canceling breaks their workflow. Think hosting, email tools, design apps.
— Membership/community: higher churn, because people join on excitement and leave when life gets busy.
Why compare them? Your monthly income is only as stable as the product's "stickiness" (how hard it is to quit).
In plain English: a tool someone depends on every Monday pays you longer than a hobby they joined on Friday night.
Example: 10 SaaS customers at $6/month might still pay you $54 next year. 10 membership customers at $6/month might drop to $18 as people drift away.
Try today: ask of any program: would canceling this actually hurt the customer's week?
