Geo Pulse #41 — Proxy types, matched to the GEO job
This week's theme: stop buying one proxy pool for every target.
— Mobile proxies → use for Tier-1 social ad accounts and aged-trust tasks where carrier IP rotation hides volume; overkill (and overpriced at $50-150/GB) for simple SERP checks.
— Residential rotating → the default for Tier-2/Tier-3 offer scraping and geo-content verification; pick ISP-static residential when a session must hold one city for 30+ minutes.
— Datacenter → fine for cached-page checks and bulk uptime monitoring, dead on iGaming/social where ASN blocklists nuke them on sight.
— Local SIM-farm or 4G dongle → only when a country (think parts of MENA or LATAM) serves different content to in-country carrier IPs that no proxy provider covers.
Rule of thumb worth saving: match proxy cost to the trust the destination demands, not to the GEO's tier.
