The link-management mistake nobody checks until commissions drop

The link-management mistake nobody checks until commissions drop

Deep on broken-link rot. Affiliate links die constantly: products go out of stock, ASINs get retired, merchants leave the network. If you're not actively scanning, dozens of your money links 404 or redirect to a dead storefront page that pays nothing — for months. Most owners only notice when a quarterly payout looks light.

AAWP vs Lasso on link health:

AAWP (Amazon-only)
— Pros: pulls live availability via PA-API, auto-hides out-of-stock
— Cons: Amazon only; useless for direct/SaaS links

Lasso (multi-network)
— Pros: monitors any link, alerts on broken/out-of-stock across networks
— Cons: pricier, heavier, needs its own dashboard discipline

My pick: AAWP if you're 90% Amazon — its availability sync is best-in-class. Lasso if your money is spread across CJ/Impact/direct programs and you need one place to catch death across all of them.

Gotcha nobody mentions: a 'working' 200-status link can still be dead revenue — it loads, but the product page now shows 'currently unavailable', so your monitor says green while you earn nothing. Status-200 checks aren't enough; you need availability checks.

Bottom line: schedule availability monitoring (not just 404 checks) or accept slow commission bleed.
