Migrating off third-party cookies: a 6-step field checklist

Migrating off third-party cookies: a 6-step field checklist
Not the panicked version. The methodical one.

1 — Inventory every pixel firing on your site via your tag manager's container export.
Why: you can't deprecate what you can't see, and there are always more than you think.

2 — Map each pixel to a server-side equivalent (Conversions API, Enhanced Conversions).
Why: client-side signal loss is 20-40% on iOS; server-side recovers most of it.

3 — Stand up a consent string check before any server event fires.
Why: server-side doesn't exempt you from consent; it just moves the liability.

4 — Backfill a hashed email or phone as your durable join key.
Why: it's the identity spine everything reattaches to post-cookie.

5 — Run both client and server tracking in parallel for 30 days, then compare conversion deltas before you cut over.
Why: dark launches catch the gaps a spec review never will.

That's the stack for this week. Forward to a teammate.
