Optimizely vs GrowthBook: the $50k question
Got quoted enterprise pricing by Optimizely. Choked on my coffee.
Optimizely: gorgeous, Stats Engine is genuinely smart, sales-led pricing that starts where startups end. You pay for the polish and the support.
GrowthBook: open-source, self-host for the cost of a server, or cheap cloud. Same feature-flag-driven testing. Stats are solid (Bayesian + sequential).
The real tradeoff isn't features. It's WHO runs tests. Optimizely's visual editor lets a marketer ship without a dev. GrowthBook assumes you'll write code/flags.
My call: dev team in-house → GrowthBook, save the $50k. Marketing-led org, no eng time → pay Optimizely, it buys you autonomy.
Go ask 'who actually launches tests here?' before you buy. Report back.
