Zapier vs Make: the math flips at scale, not at sign-up.
HEARD: teams keep picking Zapier because the first 100 tasks feel free, then panic when a single multi-step automation eats a task per step. Make charges per operation too, but its visual router lets you fan out one trigger into branches without re-paying for the lookup.
Rule of thumb we keep hearing from ops leads:
— Under ~2k runs/month with simple A-to-B logic, Zapier's polish wins.
— Past that, with branching or loops, Make is usually 3-5x cheaper for the same workflow.
The tell: if you're adding Paths in Zapier, you've outgrown it. Watch this.
