Two pages, neither one wins the feature

Today's lesson: when several SERP features (those special boxes on a search page) could pull from your site, Google still picks only ONE web address to show.

Real example: you have /blog/guide and /guide with nearly the same text. Google sees twins, gets confused, and may show neither in the answer box.

The mistake: people split one topic across two similar pages, so each is weaker and neither earns the feature.

The fix:
— Pick the stronger page as your main one.
— Add a canonical tag — a small line in the page code that says this other page is the real version — pointing to your chosen page.
— Redirect or merge the weaker twin so all the value pools into one.

Think of it like two half-full glasses. Pour them into one and it finally overflows.
