What I set up (Meta automated rules):
— Rule: pause any ad set with $50+ spend AND zero conversions in the last 24h
— Second rule: pause anything over 1.5x target CPA after $80 spend
— Checked every hour, ran automatically

First week it killed 9 ad sets I'd have babied too long. Saved roughly $600 in dead spend.

Risk: auto-rules fire on noisy early data and can kill a slow-starting winner — set spend thresholds high enough to give real signal. Start with ONE conservative rule, watch what it cuts before adding more.
