"Keep your full nav menu on landing pages so people can explore." [MOSTLY MYTH]

"Keep your full nav menu on landing pages so people can explore." [MOSTLY MYTH]

A campaign landing page kept the site's 8-item top nav. The team stripped it to a bare logo and one CTA.

— Conversion on the page rose 16%; the only "exits" lost were to the About and Careers pages

Why it spread: "don't trap users" sounds user-friendly and humane.

The boring truth: a paid-traffic landing page has one job. Every nav link is a labeled exit you bought traffic to use. "Explore" on a conversion page means "leak." You paid for the click, then handed them six doors out.

The nuance the open-nav advice skipped: this applies to campaign pages, not your homepage or a content hub, where exploration is the point. Strip nav where there's one goal; keep it where discovery is the goal.
