An exec spent 20 min/day commenting on others' posts. Profile views rose 3x, with no posting.

The question: can engaging on others' content grow your own audience without publishing anything?

The case: a B2B executive ran a 30-day experiment posting nothing of their own — only thoughtful, substantive comments (3+ sentences) on ~10 relevant posts daily. They tracked profile views, follower growth, and connection requests. Sample: 30 days, ~300 comments.

Three findings:
— Profile views rose ~3x versus their prior baseline.
— Followers grew at roughly half the rate of an active-posting month — slower, but from zero original content.
— High-engagement host posts (1,000+ reactions) drove most of the borrowed reach; comments on small posts did little.

Limitations: one person, no control, and the comparison month involved posting — so it's not a clean isolate of commenting alone. Directional.

What it means for B2B: comments are 'borrowed reach' — you rent the host's audience, and the rent is highest on big posts. It complements posting; it doesn't replace it.

Bottom line: pure commenting grew visibility meaningfully but slower than posting — best used as a multiplier, not a substitute.
