Moving the CTA to second 8 instead of the end lifted follows 3x
Here's a confession about CTA timing. A wellness creator always asked for the follow at the end: "...so if this helped, hit follow." Problem — only 22% of viewers reached the end, so the ask hit almost nobody. Follow rate per video: 0.4%.
The thing is, the ask was landing on the smallest possible audience. So we slid one micro-CTA to second 8, right after the hook paid off its first promise: "...and that's tip one of three — follow so part two finds you."
And then the ask reached the 80% who were still there at second 8, not the 22% at the end.
The result: follow rate went from 0.4% to 1.3% per video — roughly triple — with no drop in retention.
The lesson: put the ask where the audience still is, not where it's smallest.
