Naming the exact viewer in the hook doubled CTR-to-watch
Let me tell you about a real-estate creator casting too wide. His hook: "Here's how to buy your first home." True, but "first home" is a crowd of millions, so it felt addressed to no one. Watch-through was 41%.
Here's the thing — broad hooks feel like billboards, and people ignore billboards. So we narrowed it to a specific person: "If you make $60K and think you can't afford a house, this 90 seconds is for you."
And then the right people felt grabbed by the collar. The exact salary made one viewer think "that's literally me."
The result: watch-through went from 41% to 78% among the people who started, and qualified DMs tripled.
The lesson: a hook aimed at one specific person outperforms a hook aimed at everyone.
