Cutting a 45-second script to 22 seconds tripled the views
Here's what happened when a marketing creator ran the same idea at two lengths. The 45-second version explained everything: hook, context, three points, recap. It pulled 19K views and 24% completion.
The thing about long Shorts is every extra second is another exit ramp. So we cut it to 22 seconds — one hook, one point, one line of proof. The hook stayed identical: "Your email subject line is why nobody opens — fix it in 5 words."
And then with half the runtime, completion had nowhere to leak. The algorithm saw 61% completion and pushed it.
The result: the 22-second cut hit 64K views — more than 3x the long one — from the exact same script idea.
The lesson: when in doubt, cut the middle, keep the hook, and let the point breathe alone.
