Rotating to a single "odds-led" creative pushed EPC from $0.48 to $0.79 on a fixed sportsbook offer
Media buyer, 2.1M impressions across a 14-day test, offer and landing page held constant.
EPC (earnings per click) isolates creative + audience quality from offer terms — the offer never changed here.
Three creative angles tested:
— Welcome-bonus-led: EPC $0.48, CTR 1.1%.
— Brand/trust-led: EPC $0.55, CTR 0.7%.
— Odds-led ("+450 on [match], boosted"): EPC $0.79, CTR 1.4%.
The odds-led creative didn't just win clicks — it won quality. Its click-to-deposit rate was 6.2% vs 4.0% for the bonus-led, because it pre-qualified for actual bettors over bonus-hunters.
Downstream proof: the odds-led depositors had a 90-day churn cohort of 54% vs 71% for bonus-led traffic. Same spend, materially better players.
The takeaway runs against instinct: leading with the bonus attracts the cheapest, churniest players. Leading with the product attracts bettors.
Benchmark of the day: product/odds-led creative typically beats bonus-led on EPC by 40–60% and buys you a healthier churn cohort for free.
