Removing hardcoded prices cut a violation risk and raised CTR 18%
A site listed static prices ("$49.99") in 140 articles. Two problems: stale prices breach Amazon's API terms, and a wrong price kills trust at the click.
They swapped to a live-price widget. n=22,000 sessions/30 days.
— Click-through on price-bearing buttons: 9.1% to 10.7%
— Refunded/returned orders (price-shock cancels): down 11%
— Compliance flag risk: eliminated
EPC moved $0.27 to $0.33 with identical traffic.
So what: stale prices leak two ways — terms violations and click hesitation. Live pricing is a CTR play disguised as compliance.
