When did adding ads actually make sense — what traffic level?
Q: Everyone says "wait to monetize" but for how long?
A: Short answer: one site I know waited until ~25k sessions/month, and the timing mattered. Longer answer: a hobby-electronics blog applied to a premium ad network the moment they hit ~50k pageviews/month (around 25k sessions). Putting ads on earlier, at 8k sessions, would have earned maybe $40/month while slowing the site and hurting the experience during the fragile trust-building phase. At 25k sessions they earned ~$680 in month one, and because they'd kept the site fast and ad-free while ranking, no rankings dipped. The move: build authority ad-free first, monetize once traffic justifies the experience trade-off.
