One seller added back $31K of 'owner expenses' and raised their price by $1M.
Content business reported $190K net. The owner re-categorized a full-time writer's salary, two VAs, and a content agency as 'discretionary add-backs.'
New SDE: $221K. At 35x monthly that's a $1.09M ask vs $665K.
Funny part: the buyer still has to pay those people. Aggressive add-backs aren't profit, they're a bill you handed someone else.
Where's the line between fair add-back and fiction? Draw it.
