A hobby forum added 3 demand partners — and saw why "more" isn't always better
A demand partner is a company that bids to buy your ad space (an ad exchange or network).
What happened: a model-train forum ran 3 partners. The owner added 3 more, expecting double the competition.
What he measured over a month:
1. Revenue per thousand views: up only 4%.
2. Page load time: up 220 milliseconds.
3. Two new partners almost never won.
He removed the two dead-weight partners and kept the one that added 4%.
Result: same revenue lift, faster pages, simpler setup.
In plain English: each partner you add slows the page a little. Keep the ones that actually win, drop the freeloaders.
