Header bidding, explained without a single acronym

Header bidding, explained without a single acronym

Header bidding is letting many ad buyers bid for your slot at the same time, before your page even calls its main ad server.

Why it matters: the old way asked buyers one by one, in a fixed order, so a rich buyer lower in line never got a chance. Now everyone bids at once and the highest actually wins.

Tiny example: instead of "ask Network A, then B, then C," you ask A, B and C together in one quick auction.

One thing to try: think of it as an open auction held the moment your page loads, in about 200 milliseconds, rather than a polite waiting line.

In plain English: everyone bids together, so the best price actually has a chance to win.
