Case study: the counter-offer that worked by staying quiet

Case study: the counter-offer that worked by staying quiet

A counter-offer = your polite reply asking for better terms than the brand first offered.

New creators often over-explain and shrink their ask. A skincare creator got offered $500. She wanted $750.

Instead of a long apologetic paragraph, she sent: "Thanks! My rate for this is $750. Shall we move forward?" Then she stopped typing and waited.

No justifying. No "but if that's too much, I understand." Just the number and silence.

The brand replied: "$750 works." That's a $250 raise — 50% more — from three short sentences.

The lesson: a clean counter-offer is short. Over-explaining signals you expect a no.

Your move: state your number, ask one closing question, then let the silence do the work.
