Q: For a TikTok Shop affiliate program, is it worth mailing free samples to creators or just offer commission?
A: A kitchen-gadget seller compared two cohorts. Commission-only invites: 120 creators accepted, 14 actually posted, generating $2,100 in sales. The sample cohort: they mailed the $9 product to 60 hand-picked creators, 41 posted, generating $11,400. Cost of samples was about $540 plus shipping.
Reason: a creator won't film something they've never touched. Putting the product in their hands roughly tripled the post rate and the content was visibly better. Affiliate commission = the cut a creator earns per sale they drive.
Also worth knowing: don't mass-mail. They filtered to creators whose last 5 videos averaged over 10K views, so samples weren't wasted on dormant accounts.
