The Community Handoff Runbook
If your community only runs because you're online, you've built a job, not a system. Document it so anyone can cover — including future you.
The runbook must contain:
☐ The daily rhythm — what posts, at what times, in which channels
☐ The weekly rituals — who owns each, the exact opening prompt
☐ Moderation ladder + the log location
☐ Re-engagement triggers and the templates for each
☐ The metrics dashboard — where it lives, what "healthy" looks like
☐ Emergency contacts and access (accounts, passwords, who to call)
The test: hand it to someone new and take a week off. What breaks is what's still living in your head.
Update it whenever a process changes. A runbook that's three months stale is fiction.
