Q: A lead's IP says Germany but they filled the form with a UK address. Why does that single mismatch kill the lead?

A: Because a geo mismatch is one of the cleanest fraud signals there is — it usually means something is sitting between the user and their real location. On its own it's enough to fail a lot of offers.

When IP geolocation and declared location disagree, the common explanations are:

— A proxy or VPN routing the user through another country.
— A genuinely traveling user (rare, and easy to verify).
— Fabricated form data that doesn't match the real connection.
— Traffic laundering — relaying clicks through a country to disguise the true source.

For offers with strict geo targeting (especially gambling and finance, where licensing is country-locked), the advertiser legally can't accept a user whose real location is uncertain. So a mismatch defaults to rejection rather than risk a compliance breach.

If this hits clean traffic, the usual cause is your own users running VPNs, or a traffic source mixing geos. Check what share of your leads show IP-versus-form disagreement; a high rate points at proxy-heavy traffic you'll want to filter before it reaches the offer.

Short version: IP-versus-form geo conflict signals a proxy, fake data, or laundering — and licensing rules force rejection. Measure your mismatch rate at the source.
