Q: What kinds of products actually sell on social commerce versus flop?
A: Winners share three traits: they demonstrate well on video, they're an easy yes on price, and the benefit is instant. A gadget that visibly solves a problem in five seconds, a beauty product with a before/after, an under-$40 impulse item — these thrive because the video does the selling and the price doesn't need a second thought.
Floppers are the opposite: products needing research, comparison, or a leap of faith on quality. High-ticket, highly technical, or 'you have to try it on' items struggle because the format can't carry that much consideration.
Also worth knowing: price isn't a hard rule, it's about impulse threshold. A $150 item can fly if the demo makes the value undeniable in one watch. Ask: would someone buy this from a 30-second video without leaving to think? If no, social commerce is the top of the funnel, not the close.
