"Buy a few thousand views to jumpstart distribution"
The received wisdom: seed views and the algo piles on. Built on the half-truth that early momentum matters.
Why it's wrong: purchased views are watch-time-zero impressions from bot or incentivized accounts that don't resemble any real audience. They tank your watch-time-per-view ratio — the exact number the system reads to decide whether to expand reach. You're injecting the worst possible signal precisely when the first-batch ratio is being measured.
What's actually true: the system doesn't reward raw view count; it rewards the quality of attention per view. Fake views actively suppress the metric that drives expansion.
Bought views don't prime the pump. They poison the well you're drinking from.
