Zero-volume keywords still pulled 18 percent of one site's clicks
We audited a 400-page site against its tool-reported volumes. Many ranking queries showed 0 searches yet drove real traffic.
— Pages targeting 0-volume terms: 140
— Their share of total organic clicks: 18 percent
— Median actual clicks per "zero" page: 22/month
— Tool blind spot: terms under ~30 searches
Volume tools stop counting below a floor, so demand that exists is reported as nothing. So what: do not delete or skip "zero-volume" topics if they sit close to a strong cluster. The aggregate of small terms is often a bigger channel than a few head terms.
Benchmark of the week: nearly 1 in 5 clicks came from keywords the tools called empty.
