The one compliance rule that saves beginner accounts: don't overclaim

New to sweeps? Most early bans come from one thing — promising more than the offer delivers. Let's make this safe and simple.

Compliance just means following the rules: the network's rules, the advertiser's rules, and the law. The biggest trap is the claim — what your page promises.

Three claims that get beginners in trouble:

— "You won!" when the person has won nothing yet. They've only entered.
— "Free iPhone" when entry actually requires steps or a purchase elsewhere.
— "Guaranteed" anything. A sweepstakes is a chance to win, never a sure thing.

Worked example. Your page says "Congratulations, you've won a $1,000 gift card!" A person enters, gets nothing guaranteed, and complains. The advertiser sees the complaint, traces it to your campaign, and your offer is pulled. One bad word cost the whole campaign.

The safe rewrite is honest and still exciting: "Enter for your chance to win a $1,000 gift card." The words "chance to win" and "enter for" keep you clean.

The principle for beginners: excitement is allowed, false certainty is not. You can be enthusiastic without lying.

Next step: read your landing page out loud and circle every word that promises a result. Swap each one for "chance to."
