The little search box under big brands
Today's lesson: search a major brand and you sometimes see a small search bar right inside its result. That's a sitelinks search box — it lets people search within that site without visiting it first.
Think of it like a store with its own help desk built into the front window. You ask there before stepping inside.
A few honest truths for beginners:
1. Google only gives this to sites it trusts and that already get searched by name a lot. You can't simply switch it on.
2. It mostly appears for the homepage when someone searches your brand directly.
3. Having a real, working site search helps Google understand your site even when the box doesn't show.
Don't chase this feature. It's a side effect of becoming a well-known, searched-for name.
Try this: search two famous brands and one smaller one. Which get the in-result search box, and which don't? 🎓
