Q: I added an internal traffic filter but I still see my own visits — what went wrong?
A: Two separate steps trip everyone up: defining the rule, then activating the filter.
— First define the IP rule in
Admin → Data Streams → [stream] → Configure tag settings → Show all → Define internal traffic
. This only tags traffic with
traffic_type=internal
.
— Then go to
Admin → Data Settings → Data Filters
and switch the Internal Traffic filter from Testing to Active. New installs default to Testing, which excludes nothing.
— On dynamic IPs, your address rotates and slips past the rule.
Verify in DebugView that your hits carry
traffic_type=internal
.
TL;DR: Define the IP rule and set the filter to Active.
