Last week a Reel got mediocre likes but a fat send-rate. It outran my 'viral' one by 4x over 3 days.
Sends tell the algo this is worth spreading person-to-person. Likes are a reflex; sends cost social capital. Big difference in weight.
Do this today: end your next Reel with a reason to send it — 'send this to the person who keeps doing X.' Don't beg for likes. Engineer the send.
