The "long copy sells" dogma is half-true and gets misapplied constantly. Trench note: on cold native, my 700-word advertorial beat the 2,500-word monster.
Long copy wins when the reader is already warm and weighing a decision. On cold discovery traffic, the wall of text scares them off before they're invested.
— Match copy length to awareness stage. Cold = tighter story to the offer. Warm/retargeted = go long.
— More words on a cold reader = more places to lose them.
The myth treats copy length as a universal rule instead of a function of where the buyer's head is. Long isn't better. Right-sized for awareness is better. Read your traffic temperature first.
Go test it.
