Comparison pages often carry the heaviest markup on an affiliate site: logos, badges, rating widgets, tracking scripts per row.
Where the weight comes from:
— uncompressed logos at full resolution, ten of them;
— a third-party review widget that loads its own framework;
— per-row tracking pixels that fire on render.
What to do:
— serve logos as small optimized files, lazy-load anything below the fold;
— render the table server-side so it appears with the page, not after a script runs;
— replace live widgets with static ratings updated on a schedule;
— fire tracking on click, not on view, unless view data is essential.
A quick check: open the page on a mid-range phone over mobile data. If the table takes more than a couple of seconds to appear, the first-impression damage is already done.
Speed is a conversion feature, not a technical one. A visitor who waits is a visitor who is forming an opinion, and it is rarely a good one.
