Ch. 5: I Published 90 Articles in 60 Days. It Was a Mistake.
I'd read that you build "topical authority" by flooding the zone. So I outsourced 90 articles at $35 each — $3,150 — and dumped them on a 2-month-old gardening-tools site over eight weeks.
Google's response was not gratitude. Indexing stalled at 51 of 90. The crawl logs showed Googlebot losing interest by week three. Average position for the indexed ones: 38. The site smelled like exactly what it was — a content farm with no track record.
I started a second site the slow way: 3 posts a week, every one with original photos or data. By month 6 the slow site out-earned the flood site 4-to-1, on a third of the content.
Lesson banked: publishing velocity isn't authority. Google rations trust to new domains regardless of how fast you upload — pace yourself to the crawler, not your ambition.
