How to vet a "must-promote" SaaS tool before you touch it
Everyone says "this tool converts insane." Cool. Run the vetting list before you stake your reputation:
— Trustpilot/G2 read: sort by 1-star and read the last 3 months only. Old reviews lie.
— Check the cancellation flow yourself. Hard-to-cancel tools tank your refund/chargeback rate.
— Search "[tool] alternative" volume. Rising means people are leaving.
— Look at pricing-page history on archive.org. Frequent hikes = churn-by-design.
— Verify the affiliate cookie still fires after their own onboarding upsell flow.
A tool that's great for the vendor's MRR can be radioactive for your audience trust — and trust is the only asset you don't get clawed back.
Verdict: promote the cancellation flow, not the landing page. That's the real product.
