A 4-step BS test for any "passive SaaS income" claim
Everyone says SaaS affiliate income is passive. Run every claim through this filter:
— Does the income survive you doing nothing for 90 days? If new content/traffic stops and earnings drop, it was never passive.
— Does it survive the program cutting rates? They can, retroactively, often do.
— Does it survive the SaaS getting acquired? New owner kills the affiliate program in month one routinely.
— Does it survive a 10% churn month with clawbacks? Run the negative-balance scenario.
If the income fails any of these four, it's active income with a delay, dressed as a passive one.
"Passive" means it pays you while you sleep AND while you're gone. SaaS recurring only does the first one.
Verdict: passive until proven passive. It rarely survives the test.
