Myth: cross-post the same content to every platform

Myth: cross-post the same content to every platform

The efficiency pitch: write once, blast to Discord, Telegram, and the rest. Cross-platform behavior data says identical content performs unequally for structural reasons.

What the data shows
The same post behaves differently because the platforms have different physics. Telegram channels are chronological and persistent — long-form, link-rich, shelf-life-measured-in-days content performs. Discord is a fast, ephemeral, conversational stream — the same long post scrolls into oblivion and invites no reply. Studies of multi-platform creators find engagement-per-post diverges sharply when content isn't adapted to the medium's retention and discovery mechanics.

Why it happens
Discovery and shelf-life differ. Telegram rewards a self-contained artifact people forward; Discord rewards a conversation starter people answer. One asset can't be optimal for both jobs.

The caveat
Cross-posting isn't always wrong — for announcements and time-critical alerts, reach beats fit. The myth is that fit-blind cross-posting is free; it has a quiet engagement tax.

Open question: is the right unit to repurpose the idea rather than the post — same insight, platform-native form — and how much of the efficiency gain survives that re-authoring?
