Many contractors watch pageviews and miss the real signal: a plumber page can rank well and still never ring the phone. Track each service page by the action that matters: call clicks, form submits, and booked appointments. If a page gets visits but no leads, it is a traffic asset, not a sales asset.
Set one tracking path per page. Use a unique call number or call event for each service page, and fire a separate form event tied to that URL. Add the page slug to your lead log so you can compare “water heater repair” vs. “drain cleaning” without guessing.
Then check three patterns:
— high traffic + low calls = weak offer, bad intent, or unclear CTA
— low traffic + high calls = page worth expanding and linking internally
— local traffic from one zip code + calls = keep building around that area
Do not judge a page by rankings alone. A page that sits lower but brings qualified calls is more valuable than a vanity keyword winner. The goal is not more visits; it is more tracked leads from the right service page.
