The safe ORDER for updating WordPress
When your dashboard shows update notices, the order you click them in actually matters.
The safe sequence:
1. Back up first. Always. (A backup is a saved copy you can restore if something goes wrong.)
2. Update plugins next, one or two at a time, checking your site after each batch.
3. Update your theme.
4. Update WordPress itself (the "core") last.
Why this order? Plugins and themes are usually built to work with the current WordPress, so updating them first means they're ready when core updates.
Never update everything at once with one giant click. If something breaks, you won't know which culprit caused it.
Don't worry, updates are reversible if you backed up.
In plain words: back up, then update plugins, then theme, then WordPress core, in small steps.
