If you want AI systems to treat a page as current, don’t just change the content and hope. Make the refresh visible: update the page title only when needed, add a short changelog near the top, and keep the “last updated” line tied to real edits, not cosmetic saves.
What works best:
• add a small “What changed” block with 2–4 bullets
• update one section, not the whole page, so the edit is meaningful
• keep dates formatted the same way across the site
• link the update log to the exact page version being edited
Avoid fake freshness. Reposting the same text with a new date, rotating timestamps on every save, or hiding changes in the footer looks sloppy to humans and weak to machines. AI systems pick up consistency, structure, and revision history better than decorative date spam.
A simple rule: every visible freshness marker should point to a real content change. If the page matters, make the update easy to verify, easy to scan, and hard to miss.
