The SLA definition quietly moved

The SLA definition quietly moved

Heard this week: a managed host revised its uptime SLA wording, narrowing what counts as 'downtime' so it owes fewer credits when things break.

Watch the definitions, not the percentage. A source tells us the new language excludes 'scheduled maintenance', 'third-party network events', and 'degraded performance short of full outage', which is most of what actually hurts a production site. The headline number stayed at four nines. The protection behind it shrank.

Unconfirmed which provider rewrote first, but terms-of-service diffs don't lie.

Watch this: pull your host's current SLA and compare it to the version you signed under. Definition creep is the cheapest way to weaken a guarantee without touching the marketing.
