If you want a page to be cited in ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI answers, treat it like a source package. The strongest signals are:
— a clear author identity with real expertise
— citations that match the claim, not just a logo wall
— freshness cues: updated timestamps, recent examples, and maintained pages
AI systems tend to quote pages that look accountable. Anonymous content, thin rewrites, and pages with no evidence are easy to skip. Add an author bio, a short “why trust this” note, and inline references near the exact sentence they support.
Citations work best when they are specific. Link to the original report, study, tool, or policy page. Avoid dumping every source at the bottom; spread them through the article so the model can connect claim and proof. If a page makes one strong point, one strong citation is better than five weak ones.
Freshness is not about chasing news. It is about showing the content is maintained: updated intro, current screenshots, broken link checks, and removal of outdated advice. A stale page can still rank, but it is less likely to be reused in AI answers.
Build pages that are easy to trust, easy to verify, and easy to refresh. That combination is what gets quoted.
