Mostly outdated FUD. I ran a week of daily Shorts on free tiers only. CapCut free does everything for a standard talking-head Short — captions, 4K, keyframes, no watermark on manual edits.

— CapCut free: cloud sync and some effects locked, editing itself isn't
Pros: CapCut free is a complete Shorts editor.
