Playbook: Wire a price-tracking API into your review tables without rate-limit hell

Putting live prices in comparison tables (Keepa / PA-API / Datafiniti-style) is a conversion lever, but naive setups get throttled or show stale junk.

— Pick your refresh tier by traffic, not by "as fresh as possible". A page doing 50 visits/day does NOT need hourly price pulls.
— Cache prices server-side with a TTL (12-24h for most niches). Never call the API on page load — you'll burn quota and slow the page.
— Build a fallback: if the API errors, render the last cached price plus an "as of [date]" note, never a blank or $0.
— Store a price-history column so you can show "was $X" — that's the real CTR lift, not just the current number.
— Set an alert when a tracked product goes out of stock so the table can swap to your #2 pick automatically.

Gotcha: Amazon's PA-API revokes access if you make calls without recent sales. Cache aggressively or you lose the key.

Bottom line: cache with a TTL, always have a last-known fallback, show price history. Live ≠ called-on-every-load.
