Scaling content QA: sample fast, audit automatically, fix the right pages

When a site grows, manual reviews stop working. The usual mistake is checking the pages you happen to open, not the pages most likely to fail. Use two layers: spot-check sampling for judgment calls, and automated audits for repeatable issues.

Sample by page type, not by mood. Pull a small set from each template, language, and intent bucket: category pages, location pages, long-tail articles, and thin duplicates. Review titles, headers, internal links, canonicals, schema, and whether the page answers the query without filler.

Automated audits should flag patterns, not try to “understand” the content. Track missing fields, empty sections, duplicate titles, broken links, indexability problems, repeated paragraphs, and pages below a minimum word or data threshold. If a rule fires across a template, fix the template first; if it fires on a cluster, fix the dataset.

Keep a simple severity rule: block search indexing for broken or empty pages, queue medium issues for edits, and let minor style issues wait. That prevents endless cleanup and keeps editors focused on pages that can actually lose traffic.

The goal is not perfect pages. It is a workflow that catches bad pages early, proves the template is healthy, and sends humans only the cases that need judgment.
