Myth: Optimize toward CTR and conversions follow.
Wrong. On native, CTR optimization actively selects for accidental and bot clicks. Here's the de-tox playbook:
— Pause CTR as a primary KPI in your reporting view entirely
— Rebuild the dashboard around cost-per-qualified-action, not cost-per-click
— Pull the 10 highest-CTR widgets and check their downstream CVR — usually the worst
— Pull the 10 lowest-CTR widgets that still convert — fund those instead
— Add a 'scroll past 50% of LP' event as your real engagement signal
— Rewrite creative for the click you WANT, not the click you can trick
Allegedly a 'good CTR' proves resonance. Then explain why your highest-CTR placement has a 0.1% conversion rate. Curiosity-gap clickbait isn't resonance — it's a refund waiting to happen.
